Tomatoes: a love affair

I have been a tad obsessed with tomatoes this summer. My parents are growing them in their garden and I love to pick them and cut them up into bite sized pieces, then sprinkle them with salt and pepper and devour them. I decided to make a little something with the yummy homegrown tomatoes I was privileged to have been given.

It all started with:

and then I followed a recipe for a Tomato Ricotta Tart

and this is what came about:

The crust turned out a bit burnt for some reason but the rest of the tart was yummy goodness. 

Morcom Rose Gardens revisited

I have been back to the Morcom Rose gardens many
 times since I first discovered it. 

I took these photos with my droid phone in May, 

when the roses were in full bloom. 

As you walk towards the garden you can smell the sweet fragrance 

from the plethora of flowers waiting to be unveiled.

The sight is quite beautiful and it has become one of my favorite spots in Oakland.
