This song - Whole Wide World by Wreckless Eric - came on my ipod today while I was driving and it put a big ol' smile on my face. It always reminds me of this scene from Stranger Than Fiction, which is a favorite movie of mine. Hope it makes you smile, too...

I need more RED in my life
On Valentine's Day I was greeted with a beautiful bouquet of lilys and tiny yellow roses, as well as a delicious (expensive!) bottle of Italian wine. That night I wore my new favorite red velvet blazer from Pretty Penny Vintage , a sheer polka dot collared blouse, my I Heart Ronson mini leather skirt, black tights, and black suede wedges. I put my hair up in clips and sported a dark red lipstick. It was understated and sexy, romantic and comfortable. In short: I felt cute. Which is something I have been struggling with recently. I am trying to be nicer to myself on a daily basis. I realized that I was putting myself down every single day, all the time. I was so mean to myself. Do you know what that's like - to never be satisfied with what you have? It's exhausting and oh so negative. So lately I am smiling more, standing up straight, and loving myself for what I am currently. On our date we went to FIVE for cocktails and, naturally, I got a French 75 and he ordered an old fashioned. Then we headed to the tiny old movie theater to see My Week With Marilyn. Afterwards we got a late night din at Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe (owned by Mike Dirnt of Green Day) - I had a salad, he had a patty melt. Twas a great evening.
Here are some poorly taken photos of my fit:

WOWZA
Ok, I've loved Michelle Williams since the Dawson's Creek days when she showed up one season as Jen Lindley, the rebellious but lovable girl from New York City. Since then, I've been a fan of every movie she's been in (that I know of), and I love her personal style and overall demeanor. You could say I have what some might call a "girl crush" on her. So I was stopped dead in my tracks while aimlessly wandering through the grocery store isles when I saw her looking MAD SEXY on the cover of GQ Magazine. I quickly flipped through the pages and found the article and pictures. She is definitely channeling Marilyn in the photos since she just played her in the acclaimed film My Week With Marilyn. (I can't wait to see it. Soon!!) So here I'll leave you with some eye candy from the GQ spread that is the gorgeous and talented Ms. Michelle Williams. :)

Audrey and Pippin
On and frequently off the set of 1958′s film Green Mansions, Audrey had near her often a deer named Pippin. She called him “Ip,” rather than “Pip." In order for the deer to convincingly follow her character around during principal photography, she spent a great deal of time bonding with the fawn and training it to stay with her. The pictures of them together are quite possibly the cutest things I have ever seen. Can this woman be any more lovable?!

Movie Monday
-Breaking Upwards-
I came across this movie while I had my 1 month free subscription to Netflix. Needless to say, I stayed in and watched A LOT of movies; some good, some great, some surprising, and some down right awful. At the time I was introduced to the genre of film called Mumblecore, so I watched a slew of low budget sets with twenty something actors improvising dialogue, getting naked (most times unnecessarily) and trying to figure it all out i.e. life, relationships, sex, love, etc. This is also about the time I discovered my current man crush. I didn't really like the majority of these type of movies that I saw on NF. I did enjoy Breaking Upwards (featured), The Puffy Chair...and Nights and Weekends was OK. But this particular one touched my heart and a nerve and my funny bone in a big way. I highly recommend checking it out - and I think men would appreciate it too. So it pretty much equals the perfect date night/snuggle up together movie. Enjoy friends! and discuss...

Just me.
I'm sitting in my p.j.s waiting for the laundry to dry and eating a spoonful of crunchy peanut butter because...I can. Because it's just me, in my studio apartment and I've already cooked my meal for one. Because I am alone.
Lately I have had this idea or phrase in my head. I guess I better let it out. The words, "I want to grow up with someone, grow older with someone," have been playing and re-playing in my thoughts. It makes me melancholy for a feeling that I've never had. I haven't (in all my romantic relationships) felt the safety of a constant person in my life. Things are usually rocky and unsure. I'm not sure why this pattern has developed for me. There are instances and experiences that I can go on and on about that may have influenced my current state, but I am not interested in digging up the past. I want to live from now and on. In terms of love, I want to feel safe and respected; maybe even taken care of a little bit. These thoughts and feelings have been almost overwhelming in the recent weeks and I am tired of ignoring it. Thank you for letting me use this little vessel to get this off my chest.
I promise I am not chugging a bottle of wine on my couch, singing Celine's rendition of "All By Myself," at the top of my lungs while force hugging my cat. I am not there...yet. :)
Here is the infamous scene from Bridgette Jones' Diary that still makes me laugh -
even on a night like tonight.

Beginners
I've been waiting months to see this movie so I am excited it is finally playing in my neighborhood. Hopefully I will make it to the theater this weekend.
And Mike Mills, can he do anything wrong? <3

Use all your Fridays up in a week.
A Baxter: "my Grandmother had a word for those guys: nice guys, old fashioned guys, the kind of guys who wear sock garters, guys who get hay fever from raking the leaves, the kind of guy you settle for because you can't be with the one you love. "
The Baxter is one of my most favorite movies. It has it all: wit, weirdness, love, comedy, Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Banks, and the list goes on and on. Here are some clips and I hope that you fall in love with this film, too.

I still want to learn this tune on the piano and sing it sometime. It is so sweet.
